Bagh or Thappa Chappai is a block printing technique from Madhya Pradesh.
The 400 year old printing technique is inspired by nature, the ancient Bagh Cave paintings, and the jali (lattice) work of the Taj Mahal. Each block has a name: chameli (jasmine), maithir (mushroom), leheriya (waves), keri(mango), and jurvaria (small dots) are some of the familiar designs. Kaisori's new design story is an ode to craftsmanship of extensive handiwork by artisans which formed a major aesthetic element in Indian, Indo-Islamic and Islamic architecture.
